The temperature is heating up and so is the summer fishing here in Beaufort and Hilton Head, SC! Here is a short report on the fishing right now and some photos from recent charters!
Beaufort and Hilton Head, SC Light Tackle Fishing: Tons of opportunity when light tackle fishing this time of year. Fishing the falling and rising tides as the fish flow in and out with the currents. Using shrimp and mud minnows for live bait, and Mullet for cut bait. Top water fishing in the morning has been great for trout and redfish. Soft plastics like the Gulp 3″ Shrimp in New Penny has been working great too.
Species: Redfish, Sea Trout, Flounder, Jack, Cobia, Sharks, Tarpon, Triple Tail, Blue Fish, Lady Fish, Spanish.
Fly Fishing Beaufort and Hilton Head, SC: Low Tide Fishing and Flood Fly Fishing has been awesome! The fish get very active in the summer months chasing shrimp, mullet, and fiddler crabs. Using a lot of darker colored shrimp and crab patterns has been the ticket in the darker colored summer water. Fishing early in the morning or late in the evening staying out of the mid day heat will be best fishing. Nothing better than watching a Redfish crawl around with his back out of the water!
Species: Redfish, Triple Tail, Cobia, Tarpon, Jacks
